Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 1.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 3.83% or 0.147 points to trade at 3.980 at the close. FCC (MC:FCC) fell 0.03% or 0.002 points to end at 7.582 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) was down 0.05% or 0.005 points to 10.180 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA), which lost 3.91% or 0.186 points to trade at 4.566 in late trade. Banco Popular (MC:POP) declined 3.01% or 0.071 points to end at 2.287 and B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) shed 2.65% or 0.043 points to 1.582.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 156 to 47 and 22 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.59% or 7.30 to $1235.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.08% or 0.03 to hit $38.29 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.40% or 0.16 to trade at $40.21 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.40% to 1.1383, while EUR/GBP rose 0.30% to 0.7909.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 94.54.
