Sri Lanka shares higher at close of trade; CSE All-Share up 0.02%

Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Plantations, Palm Oil and Construction & Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.02%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Gestetner of Ceylon PLC (CM:GEST), which rose 12.38% or 13.00 points to trade at 118.00 at the close. Property Development PLC (CM:PDL) added 10.89% or 9.80 points to end at 99.80 and Beruwala Resorts PLC (CM:BERU) was up 8.33% or 0.100 points to 1.300 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL), which lost 20.00% or 0.300 points to trade at 1.200 in late trade. Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC (CM:MAL) declined 6.90% or 0.200 points to end at 2.700 and Good Hope PLC (CM:GOOD) shed 6.69% or 98.80 points to 1377.30.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 85 to 72 and 55 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.31% or 0.66 to $50.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 1.28% or 0.66 to hit $52.34 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.64% or 8.05 to trade at $1270.95 a troy ounce.

GBP/LKR was up 0.47% to 181.515, while USD/LKR rose 0.27% to 147.540.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 97.72.
