Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Plantations, Trading and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Paragon Ceylon PLC (CM:PARA), which rose 21.29% or 15.80 points to trade at 90.00 at the close. Singhe Hospitals Ltd (CM:SIGH) added 16.67% or 0.300 points to end at 2.100 and Trade Finance & Investments PLC (CM:TFIL) was up 16.06% or 6.60 points to 47.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC (CM:SWAD), which lost 17.78% or 2400.00 points to trade at 11100.00 in late trade. Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND) declined 11.45% or 169.70 points to end at 1312.00 and Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH) shed 11.11% or 40.00 points to 320.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 129 to 68 and 56 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.57% or 0.71 to $45.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.53% or 0.73 to hit $48.52 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.16% or 1.99 to trade at $1223.69 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.20% to 199.245, while USD/LKR fell 0.06% to 153.660.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 95.85.
