Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Power & Energy, Motors and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were F L C Holdings PLC (CM:FREE), which rose 16.67% or 0.20 points to trade at 1.40 at the close. Hikkaduwa Beach Resort Ltd (CM:CITH) added 10.60% or 1.60 points to end at 16.70 and Bogawantalawa Tea Estates PLC (CM:BOPL) was up 9.00% or 0.90 points to 10.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which lost 12.50% or 0.10 points to trade at 0.70 in late trade. EB Creasy and Company PLC (CM:EBCR) declined 10.18% or 137.50 points to end at 1213.00 and Arpico Finance Company PLC (CM:ARPI) shed 8.53% or 18.00 points to 193.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 87 to 82 and 53 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 1.13% or 0.55 to $49.17 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.30% or 0.63 to hit $49.24 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.64% or 7.90 to trade at $1221.30 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.47% to 215.415, while USD/LKR rose 0.41% to 147.375.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 95.61.
