Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction & Engineering, Telecoms and Plantations sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL), which rose 12.50% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.900 at the close. Kelsey Developments PLC (CM:KDL) added 9.07% or 4.30 points to end at 51.70 and Mercantile Shipping Company PLC (CM:MSL) was up 8.60% or 7.10 points to 89.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND), which lost 18.73% or 311.20 points to trade at 1350.00 in late trade. Trans Asia Hotels PLC (CM:TRAN) declined 10.00% or 9.00 points to end at 81.00 and Chilaw Finance PLC (CM:CHIL) shed 6.96% or 1.60 points to 21.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 113 to 56 and 54 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 2.18% or 0.96 to $45.01 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.96% or 0.90 to hit $46.78 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.46% or 6.05 to trade at $1324.25 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.40% to 189.860, while USD/LKR rose 0.25% to 146.260.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 95.90.
