Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Transport, Textile and Iron & Steel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Taroko Textile Corp (TW:1432), which rose 10.00% or 1.55 points to trade at 17.05 at the close. Mercuries Data Systems Ltd (TW:2427) added 9.92% or 0.77 points to end at 8.53 and Min Aik Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:4545) was up 9.89% or 3.50 points to 38.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Abocom Systems Inc (TW:2444), which lost 4.34% or 0.75 points to trade at 16.55 in late trade. Global View Co Ltd (TW:3040) declined 4.02% or 1.70 points to end at 40.55 and Hsin Ba Ba Corp (TW:9906) shed 4.02% or 0.90 points to 21.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 428 to 345 and 105 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.39% or 0.18 to $46.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.27% or 0.13 to hit $48.90 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.43% or 5.35 to trade at $1236.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.02% to 30.427, while TWD/CNY fell 0.27% to 0.2229.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 95.54.
