Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Textile and Iron & Steel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Union Insuranc (TW:2816), which rose 10.00% or 1.45 points to trade at 15.95 at the close. Meiloon Ind (TW:2477) added 10.00% or 1.50 points to end at 16.50 and Kyet (TW:5225) was up 9.91% or 3.15 points to 34.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Transasia (TW:6702), which lost 10.00% or 0.38 points to trade at 3.42 in late trade. Genius (TW:3406) declined 7.30% or 6.90 points to end at 87.60 and Basso Indu (TW:1527) shed 5.67% or 4.30 points to 71.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 497 to 282 and 97 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.13% or 0.06 to $46.00 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $48.21 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.11% or 13.10 to trade at $1191.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.28% to 31.753, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2171.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.47% at 101.00.
