Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Inotera Memo (TW:3474), which rose 9.89% or 2.35 points to trade at 26.10 at the close. D-Link Corp (TW:2332) added 9.80% or 1.00 points to end at 11.20 and Sinher (TW:4999) was up 8.46% or 3.55 points to 45.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Crowell (TW:2528), which lost 8.25% or 0.61 points to trade at 6.78 in late trade. Chung Hung Ste (TW:2014) declined 4.95% or 0.27 points to end at 5.18 and Mosel (TW:2342) shed 4.71% or 0.120 points to 2.430.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 501 to 235 and 117 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.84% or 0.39 to $46.60 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.25% or 0.59 to hit $47.78 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.98% or 12.75 to trade at $1285.65 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.09% to 32.357, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2037.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 94.69.
