Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Electrical, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP), which rose 2.15% or 5.80 points to trade at 275.50 at the close. Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) added 2.10% or 170.00 points to end at 8250.00 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 2.06% or 26.00 points to 1286.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which lost 2.04% or 21.00 points to trade at 1009.50 in late trade. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 2.02% or 15.50 points to end at 753.50 and Smiths Group PLC (LON:SMIN) shed 1.90% or 32.00 points to 1652.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1017 to 891 and 458 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.09% or 1.05 to $1227.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.76% or 0.35 to hit $45.87 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.94% or 0.46 to trade at $48.64 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.31% to 1.2940, while EUR/GBP fell 0.32% to 0.8446.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.57% at 98.98.
