Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Forestry & Paper sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY), which rose 2.54% or 1.3700 points to trade at 55.2400 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 2.50% or 27.000 points to end at 1105.000 and WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LON:MRW) was up 1.46% or 2.80 points to 195.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which lost 3.90% or 7.6500 points to trade at 188.5500 in late trade. Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) declined 2.54% or 4.00 points to end at 153.30 and BHP Billiton PLC (LON:BLT) shed 2.05% or 22.00 points to 1053.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1143 to 898 and 503 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.69% or 9.35 to $1347.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $48.23 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.51% or 0.26 to trade at $50.63 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.90% to 1.3051, while EUR/GBP rose 0.60% to 0.8674.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.46% at 94.54.
