Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Mining and Electrical sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (L:IHG), which rose 6.20% or 162.00 points to trade at 2774.00 at the close. Meanwhile, International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (L:ICAG) added 3.70% or 21.50 points to end at 602.00 and CRH PLC (L:CRH) was up 3.62% or 65.00 points to 1861.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BHP Billiton PLC (L:BLT), which fell 5.71% or 59.00 points to trade at 975.00 at the close. Glencore PLC (L:GLEN) declined 4.65% or 5.6500 points to end at 115.8500 and Randgold Resources Ltd (L:RRS) was down 3.64% or 150.00 points to 3971.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1110 to 938 and 490 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 1.44% or 15.90 to $1088.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.55% or 0.70 to hit $44.50 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.95% or 0.46 to trade at $47.52 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.02% to 1.5052, while EUR/GBP fell 0.32% to 0.7133.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.24% at 99.31.
