Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Financial Services and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.20% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which rose 4.53% or 36.60 points to trade at 845.00 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 4.18% or 26.40 points to end at 657.60 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) was up 3.89% or 45.00 points to 1,202.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included GSK plc (LON:GSK), which lost 1.82% or 25.60 points to trade at 1,384.00 in late trade. Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) declined 1.36% or 137.00 points to end at 9,948.00 and Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) shed 1.19% or 9.20 points to 761.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 984 to 813 and 481 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.26% or 4.45 to $1,744.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 4.37% or 3.54 to hit $77.41 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 4.14% or 3.66 to trade at $84.70 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.26% to 1.20, while EUR/GBP fell 0.63% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.72% at 106.35.
