Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Oil & Gas Producers and Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.31% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 2.74% or 10.80 points to trade at 404.90 at the close. Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN) added 1.33% or 14.50 points to end at 1,103.50 and Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) was up 1.24% or 26.00 points to 2,126.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT), which lost 2.38% or 51.00 points to trade at 2,091.00 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 2.05% or 13.60 points to end at 649.80 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) shed 1.98% or 21.50 points to 1,064.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 908 to 844 and 504 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.48% or 8.35 to $1,753.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.63% or 1.27 to hit $76.67 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.56% or 1.33 to trade at $84.01 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 1.21, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.13% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 105.95.
