Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil & Gas Producers and Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.60% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY), which rose 6.95% or 13.75 points to trade at 211.60 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) added 3.03% or 3.95 points to end at 134.55 and Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN) was up 2.88% or 29.00 points to 1,034.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which lost 8.89% or 11.35 points to trade at 116.40 in late trade. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) declined 3.98% or 465.00 points to end at 11,225.00 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) shed 3.49% or 2.90 points to 80.16.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1119 to 674 and 460 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.12% or 18.45 to $1,631.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.92% or 1.73 to hit $88.27 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.46% or 1.40 to trade at $94.76 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.92% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP rose 1.31% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.45% at 112.83.
