Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Mobile Telecommunications and Food & Drug Retailers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.71% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 6.06% or 19.90 points to trade at 348.40 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 5.45% or 6.28 points to end at 121.56 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) was up 5.17% or 34.20 points to 696.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK), which lost 2.77% or 104.00 points to trade at 3,654.00 in late trade. Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA) declined 1.54% or 106.00 points to end at 6,760.00 and Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) shed 1.52% or 22.50 points to 1,462.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 982 to 822 and 467 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.37% or 6.05 to $1,638.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.15% or 1.89 to hit $86.01 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.53% or 1.43 to trade at $92.34 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.20% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.54% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.70% at 111.39.
