Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Industrial Transportation and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP), which rose 5.65% or 66.00 points to trade at 1,235.00 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 4.57% or 30.60 points to end at 700.00 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 4.07% or 58.00 points to 1,483.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 2.63% or 10.00 points to trade at 369.80 in late trade. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 2.40% or 2.23 points to end at 90.61 and Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) shed 1.99% or 41.00 points to 2,020.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1237 to 624 and 413 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.66% or 29.75 to $1,822.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.44% or 2.52 to hit $75.69 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 3.67% or 2.86 to trade at $80.85 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.77% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.03% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.06% at 103.66.
