Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Industrial Transportation and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 13.69% or 105.80 points to trade at 878.80 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 11.30% or 74.60 points to end at 734.80 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) was up 8.62% or 121.50 points to 1,531.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which lost 3.13% or 3.17 points to trade at 98.18 in late trade. BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) declined 2.81% or 24.00 points to end at 830.00 and BP PLC (LON:BP) shed 2.77% or 13.65 points to 478.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1343 to 560 and 403 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.77% or 15.00 to $1,927.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.56% or 0.43 to hit $76.84 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.36% or 0.30 to trade at $83.14 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.11% to 1.22, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.46% to 0.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.49% at 101.52.
