Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Electrical and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.77% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 3.59% or 118.00 points to trade at 3,407.50 at the close. Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON:0593xq) added 3.29% or 37.00 points to end at 1,163.00 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 3.26% or 44.50 points to 1,408.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN), which lost 5.26% or 10.80 points to trade at 194.40 in late trade. British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) declined 2.57% or 10.40 points to end at 394.30 and Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO) shed 2.36% or 5.50 points to 227.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 969 to 826 and 495 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.96% or 16.85 to $1,765.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.58% or 2.02 to hit $80.22 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.71% or 2.28 to trade at $86.53 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.19, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.08% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 106.88.
