Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining, Industrial Metals & Mining and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.92% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 7.61% or 44.00 points to trade at 622.50 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 5.10% or 23.55 points to end at 485.70 and Endeavour Mining PLC (LON:EDV) was up 4.84% or 85.00 points to 1,843.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which lost 3.81% or 6.45 points to trade at 162.65 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 3.62% or 13.40 points to end at 356.70 and JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD) shed 3.14% or 3.85 points to 118.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 947 to 830 and 667 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.39% or 33.00 to $2,405.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.48% or 1.26 to hit $86.28 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.30% or 1.17 to trade at $90.91 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.78% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.66% at 105.76.
