Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Mobile Telecommunications and Electrical sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 6.47% or 42.40 points to trade at 697.80 at the close. Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) added 6.15% or 168.00 points to end at 2,898.00 and Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) was up 6.08% or 252.00 points to 4,397.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN), which lost 11.37% or 137.00 points to trade at 1,067.50 in late trade. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) declined 8.09% or 14.25 points to end at 161.85 and Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) shed 4.64% or 7.32 points to 150.34.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1134 to 670 and 451 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.92% or 33.00 to $1,752.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.46% or 0.45 to hit $96.81 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.08% or 0.08 to trade at $101.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.21, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.23% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 106.36.
