Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Mining and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 4.32% or 7.60 points to trade at 183.55 at the close. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) added 2.14% or 36.00 points to end at 1,718.50 and Diageo PLC (LON:DGE) was up 1.76% or 65.00 points to 3,766.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 9.28% or 75.00 points to trade at 733.00 in late trade. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) declined 3.45% or 27.60 points to end at 772.20 and Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) shed 2.69% or 120.00 points to 4,337.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1005 to 835 and 451 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.65% or 12.50 to $1,909.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.11% or 0.09 to hit $80.02 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.03% or 0.87 to trade at $85.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.62% to 1.23, while EUR/GBP fell 0.86% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 102.20.
