Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO), which rose 2.43% or 13.00 points to trade at 547.40 at the close. Smiths Group PLC (LON:SMIN) added 2.35% or 37.00 points to end at 1,612.00 and GSK plc (LON:GSK) was up 2.16% or 29.60 points to 1,398.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 4.87% or 33.00 points to trade at 645.20 in late trade. BP PLC (LON:BP) declined 3.76% or 17.90 points to end at 458.15 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) shed 3.10% or 37.50 points to 1,173.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.32% or 5.50 to $1,745.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.61% or 0.49 to hit $80.53 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.78% or 0.68 to trade at $88.13 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.22% to 1.18, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 107.48.
