Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Real Estate and General Retailers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which rose 2.48% or 1.64 points to trade at 67.68 at the close. BP PLC (LON:BP) added 2.25% or 10.00 points to end at 455.25 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 1.93% or 2.24 points to 118.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Segro Plc (LON:SGRO), which lost 4.69% or 35.20 points to trade at 715.40 in late trade. Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) declined 4.68% or 2.00 points to end at 40.61 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) shed 4.23% or 33.80 points to 765.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1173 to 571 and 505 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.35% or 22.35 to $1,633.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.01% or 1.65 to hit $83.72 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.97% or 1.77 to trade at $91.80 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.05% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.84% at 112.93.
