Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Aerospace & Defense and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Diploma PLC (LON:DPLM), which rose 4.05% or 158.00 points to trade at 4,060.00 at the close. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) added 3.37% or 3.55 points to end at 108.95 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 2.90% or 5.25 points to 186.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES), which lost 3.23% or 45.00 points to trade at 1,349.00 in late trade. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) declined 2.40% or 66.50 points to end at 2,707.00 and Phoenix Group Holdings PLC (LON:PHNX) shed 2.31% or 12.00 points to 508.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 926 to 901 and 689 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.36% or 32.30 to $2,342.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.81% or 0.63 to hit $78.89 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.48% or 0.40 to trade at $83.19 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.32% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 105.04.
