Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Aerospace & Defense, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.89%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 13.85% or 98.80 points to trade at 812.00 at the close. Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN) added 8.08% or 15.20 points to end at 203.30 and B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) was up 7.92% or 28.30 points to 385.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES), which lost 8.11% or 63.00 points to trade at 714.00 in late trade. GSK plc (LON:GSK) declined 6.01% or 84.60 points to end at 1,323.60 and Relx PLC (LON:REL) shed 5.97% or 142.00 points to 2,235.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1232 to 651 and 447 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.85% or 14.85 to $1,768.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.19% or 1.89 to hit $88.36 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.86% or 1.74 to trade at $95.41 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.78% to 1.18, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.55% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.57% at 106.39.
