Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Real Estate & Construction and Transport sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.43%, while the ADX General index added 0.63%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which rose 3.70% or 0.040 points to trade at 1.120 at the close. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) added 3.12% or 0.016 points to end at 0.529 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) was up 1.98% or 0.020 points to 1.030 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB), which lost 4.76% or 3.00 points to trade at 60.00 in late trade. Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) declined 1.94% or 0.009 points to end at 0.456 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) shed 1.74% or 0.008 points to 0.452.

The top performers on the ADX General were Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which rose 4.95% to 1.0600, First Gulf Bk (AD:FGB) which was up 3.23% to settle at 11.20 and Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which gained 1.89% to close at 0.540.

The worst performers were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was down 7.69% to 0.360 in late trade, Emirates Ins C (AD:EIC) which lost 3.33% to settle at 5.80 and Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which was down 2.68% to 2.180 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 16 to 15 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 14 rose and 7 declined, while 10 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.41% or 0.20 to $49.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.72% or 0.36 to hit $50.34 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.26% or 3.35 to trade at $1269.95 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.19% to 4.0132.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 98.53.
