Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Finance & Investment, Real Estate & Construction and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General added 0.82%, while the ADX General index climbed 1.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which rose 5.74% or 0.038 points to trade at 0.700 at the close. Dubai Investments PJSC (DU:DINV) added 3.50% or 0.070 points to end at 2.070 and Deyaar Development PJSC (DU:DEYR) was up 3.20% or 0.019 points to 0.612 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which lost 2.50% or 0.013 points to trade at 0.506 in late trade. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) declined 1.84% or 0.011 points to end at 0.588 and Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD) shed 1.76% or 0.150 points to 8.350.
The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which rose 14.86% to 2.010, Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which was up 14.67% to settle at 0.8600 and National Marine Dredging PSC (AD:NMDC) which gained 14.58% to close at 5.500.
The worst performers were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was down 10.00% to 0.360 in late trade, Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which lost 3.49% to settle at 2.210 and Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which was down 1.23% to 0.8000 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 22 to 8 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 18 rose and 7 declined, while 8 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 1.25% or 0.63 to $50.99 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.52% or 0.78 to hit $52.22 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.94% or 11.75 to trade at $1258.75 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.22% to 4.1796.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.29% at 93.57.
