Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Banking and Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 1.21%, while the ADX General index gained 1.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB), which rose 4.83% or 2.90 points to trade at 63.00 at the close. Takaful House (DU:DTKF) added 3.45% or 0.028 points to end at 0.840 and Dubai Parks and Resorts PJSC (DU:DUBA) was up 1.96% or 0.030 points to 1.560 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which lost 5.29% or 0.110 points to trade at 1.970 in late trade. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) declined 4.06% or 0.026 points to end at 0.614 and AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) shed 2.35% or 0.040 points to 1.660.
The top performers on the ADX General were Fujairah Building Industries Co PSC (AD:FBI) which rose 11.11% to 1.20, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was up 9.20% to settle at 0.9500 and Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which gained 6.67% to close at 1.440.
The worst performers were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was down 9.76% to 0.370 in late trade, Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which lost 2.50% to settle at 1.56 and Methaq (AD:METH) which was down 1.28% to 0.770 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 23 to 11 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 18 rose and 4 declined, while 8 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.00% or 0.50 to $49.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.94% or 0.48 to hit $50.84 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.50% or 6.65 to trade at $1320.25 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED rose 0.18% to 4.0934.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 95.57.
