Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Real Estate & Construction and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.59% to hit a new 3-month low, while the ADX General index declined 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV), which rose 1.82% or 0.020 points to trade at 1.120 at the close. Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) added 1.65% or 0.020 points to end at 1.230 and Damac Properties Dubai Co PSC (DU:DAMAC) was up 0.90% or 0.020 points to 2.240 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB), which lost 5.73% or 3.95 points to trade at 64.95 in late trade. Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) declined 2.04% or 0.010 points to end at 0.480 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) shed 1.92% or 0.020 points to 1.020.
The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which rose 5.53% to 2.100, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was up 1.11% to settle at 0.9100 and Aldar Properti (AD:ALDR) which gained 0.39% to close at 2.570.
The worst performers were Nat Bk Qaiwain (AD:NBQ) which was down 9.36% to 3.10 in late trade, Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which lost 6.47% to settle at 1.300 and Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which was down 2.70% to 0.7200 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 22 to 10 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 13 fell and 4 advanced, while 7 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.18% or 0.09 to $50.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $51.78 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.62% or 7.75 to trade at $1261.55 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was down 0.01% to 3.6728, while EUR/AED rose 0.17% to 4.0496.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 97.76.
