Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Insurance, Banking and Transport sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Telecoms, Finance & Investment and Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General added 1.35% to hit a new 1-month high, while the ADX General index fell 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which rose 14.76% or 0.310 points to trade at 2.410 at the close. Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB) added 7.62% or 4.95 points to end at 69.95 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) was up 4.32% or 0.022 points to 0.531 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which lost 4.92% or 0.06 points to trade at 1.16 in late trade. National Cement Company P.S.C. (DU:NCC) declined 1.15% or 0.040 points to end at 3.450 and SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) shed 0.76% or 0.005 points to 0.650.
The top performers on the ADX General were Methaq (AD:METH) which rose 15.00% to 0.920, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was up 9.35% to settle at 2.690 and Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which gained 2.08% to close at 0.490.
The worst performers were Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 3.73% to 1.55 in late trade, National Marine Dredging PSC (AD:NMDC) which lost 3.00% to settle at 4.850 and Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which was down 2.17% to 0.9000 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 27 to 6 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 rose and 7 declined, while 7 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.66% or 0.31 to $46.34 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.65% or 0.31 to hit $47.30 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.11% or 1.45 to trade at $1325.95 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED rose 0.19% to 4.0613.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 96.61.
