Xpeng Motors (NYSE:XPEV) announced Thursday that their XPENG G9 electric vehicle has become the first Chinese branded vehicle to win "People's Favorite 2024" in Norway's renowned “Car of The Year” awards.

"People's Favorite" is part of the esteemed “Car of the Year 2024” award, an event orchestrated for the nineteenth consecutive year by Dagbladet in partnership with media outlets Dinside and Elbil24.

"We consider this to be an incredibly distinguished award, especially because the people chose us as the winner.” Said XPeng managing director Claes Persson. “We look forward to developing our current and upcoming electric car models further."

This vehicle introduces cutting-edge EV technology to Europe, featuring XPENG's latest powertrain system equipped with an 800 V Silicon Carbide (SiC) platform, enabling lightning-fast charging capabilities of up to 300 kW. With this system, drivers can conveniently add up to 100 km of range in just five minutes.

Among the seven other nominees contending for this honor, the XPENG G9 has advanced to the final stage of the "Car of the Year 2024" selection process. The ultimate winner will be unveiled on December 5th.
