WINNIPEG, Manitoba, April 23 (Reuters) - ICE (NYSE:ICE) canola futures fell for the sixth straight session on Tuesday, registering fresh contract lows on technical selling and amid big supplies.
* Funds expanded their net short position ahead of a Statistics Canada report due on Wednesday that will estimate farmers' planting intentions, a trader said.
* Trade expects Canadian farmers will plant 21.8 million acres of canola this spring, down 1 million acres from a year ago, according to a Reuters survey. Canola demand has been hurt by a trade dispute between Canada and China.
* May canola RSK9 lost $5.30 to $437.80 per tonne. The contract touched the lowest intraday price since December 2014.
* May-July canola spread traded 10,395 times and was a major trading feature.
* Chicago May soybeans SK9 dropped on weak Chinese demand. Paris Matif May rapeseed futures /COMK9 edged higher and Malaysian July palm oil futures /1FCPON9 eased.
* The Canadian dollar CAD= touched a four-week low ahead of a Bank of Canada rate decision due on Wednesday.
