Investing.com - Bitcoin prices were little changed on Monday, while other major cryptocurrencies also remained sideways at the same places they have been all last week. Reports that a Taiwan lawmaker is proposing to aid crypto startups received some attention.

Bitcoin dropped 0.2% to $6,491.8 by 1:15 AM ET (05:15GMT) on the Bitifinex exchange.

Ethereum fell 0.1% to $205.46 and Litecoin was little changed at $52.270. XRP gained 0.1% to $0.46225 on the Poloniex exchange.

On Friday, Taiwanese legislator Jason Hsu proposed a list of policy recommendations aimed at supporting new cryptocurrenciy companies. Hsu urged the Ministry of Economic Affairs to create a new business category for virtual coins and called for new guidelines for initial coin offerings to protect consumers.

If passed into law, Hsu’s proposals would set in place regulations that are similar in part to existing anti-money laundering laws in the US and France, reports suggested, adding that the move could potentially support the growth of the blockchain technology and promote proper crypto business in Taiwan by helping the industry to be legitimate in the country.

In other news, a new report from U.S.-based security firm Recorded Future published on Oct. 25 claimed the North Korean government has sponsored at least two virtual coin scams in 2018.

The first scam coin allegedly supported by North Korea is Interstellar coin that was found by Insikt Group in June 2018.

The second scam coin, named Marine Chain coin, reportedly enabled the tokenization of maritime vessels for multiple users and owners and was claimed to be fraudulent by the state of Ontario, Canada.
