Investing.com - Japanese messaging app Line is launching a Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange in July.
The exchange is called Bitbox and will offer crypto-to-crypto trading in more than 30 currencies, including bitcoin, bitcoin cash, ethereum and litecoin.
Trading will be available in 15 languages at the time of the launch. Trading will not be available in Japan or the U.S., where Line is still trying to clear regulatory hurdles.
Line has about 200 million monthly active users throughout Asia.
Other messaging app companies have already ventured into the cryptocurrency space.
Telegram raised $1.7 billion from private investors for its digital coin project, while Kik launched a digital currency through an initial coin offering.
There's widespread industry speculation that Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) is considering a digital coin for its messaging app.
