Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Telecoms and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.94% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 3.16% or 1.76 points to trade at 57.50 at the close. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) added 2.04% or 0.54 points to end at 26.77 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 1.88% or 0.23 points to 12.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which lost 0.18% or 0.025 points to trade at 13.620 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) declined 0.10% or 0.04 points to end at 39.00 and Ageas (BR:AGES) gained 0.01% or 0.005 points to 37.215.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 71 to 44 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.66% or 7.75 to $1158.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.36% or 0.19 to hit $53.02 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.34% or 0.19 to trade at $55.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.0625, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8377.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 101.07.
