Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Utilities and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 1.29% or 0.94 points to trade at 73.62 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 1.01% or 0.850 points to end at 84.940 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 0.95% or 0.28 points to 30.23 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aperam (AS:APAM), which lost 1.33% or 0.61 points to trade at 45.54 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) declined 1.17% or 0.53 points to end at 44.20 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) shed 1.14% or 0.60 points to 51.95.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 55 to 49 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.11% or 1.35 to $1275.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.71% or 0.38 to hit $53.02 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.89% or 0.50 to trade at $55.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.03% to 1.0607, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8488.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 100.60.
