Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.07% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 1.26% or 1.050 points to trade at 84.110 at the close. Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) added 0.82% or 1.20 points to end at 147.40 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was up 0.70% or 0.39 points to 55.83 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 1.00% or 0.14 points to trade at 13.31 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) declined 0.43% or 0.20 points to end at 45.40 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) shed 0.28% or 0.30 points to 108.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 71 to 38 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.02% or 0.25 to $1257.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.23% or 0.64 to hit $52.88 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.98% or 0.54 to trade at $55.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.0603, while EUR/GBP fell 0.32% to 0.8538.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 100.90.
