Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which rose 1.54% or 1.85 points to trade at 121.70 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 1.03% or 0.22 points to end at 21.61 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was up 0.99% or 0.360 points to 36.750 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 0.62% or 0.09 points to trade at 13.57 in late trade. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) declined 0.47% or 0.29 points to end at 61.91 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) shed 0.29% or 0.12 points to 42.56.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 68 to 46 and 17 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.27% or 3.44 to $1265.46 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.48% or 0.22 to hit $46.30 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.48% or 0.23 to trade at $48.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.1198, while EUR/GBP fell 0.70% to 0.8789.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 97.06.
