Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Telecoms and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 4.03% or 1.610 points to trade at 41.610 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 2.23% or 1.44 points to end at 66.09 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) was up 2.20% or 0.60 points to 28.13 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which lost 4.16% or 1.61 points to trade at 37.09 in late trade. Ageas (BR:AGES) declined 3.25% or 1.085 points to end at 32.290 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) shed 1.47% or 1.33 points to 88.87.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 88 to 51 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 2.21% or 28.55 to $1265.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.55% or 1.14 to hit $43.52 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 3.46% or 1.57 to trade at $43.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1403, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.7914.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 94.04.
