Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which rose 1.81% or 2.15 points to trade at 121.05 at the close. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) added 1.66% or 0.72 points to end at 44.37 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.39% or 1.100 points to 80.090 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which lost 0.97% or 0.30 points to trade at 30.55 in late trade. Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) declined 0.55% or 0.60 points to end at 108.85 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) shed 0.53% or 0.25 points to 47.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 68 to 49 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.31% or 3.82 to $1231.52 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.76% or 1.32 to hit $49.16 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.50% or 1.27 to trade at $52.11 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.38% to 1.0974, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 98.80.
