Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Utilities and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI), which rose 2.12% or 2.30 points to trade at 110.95 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 1.69% or 0.23 points to end at 13.84 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.11% or 0.520 points to 47.350 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which lost 0.83% or 0.33 points to trade at 38.84 in late trade. Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) declined 0.80% or 0.85 points to end at 105.30 and ING Groep NV (AS:ING) shed 0.70% or 0.069 points to 9.750.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 80 to 65 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.10% or 1.35 to $1286.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.39% or 0.19 to hit $48.30 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.00% or 0.50 to trade at $49.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.33% to 1.1244, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.7925.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 94.80.
