Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Healthcare and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.74% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were KBC (BR:KBC), which rose 2.87% or 1.720 points to trade at 61.620 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) added 2.52% or 0.340 points to end at 13.820 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was up 1.85% or 0.700 points to 38.440 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB), which lost 1.29% or 1.40 points to trade at 107.20 in late trade. Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI) declined 0.89% or 0.90 points to end at 100.20 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) shed 0.57% or 0.12 points to 19.96.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 70 to 43 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.86% or 9.85 to $1161.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 2.57% or 1.38 to hit $52.34 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 2.36% or 1.34 to trade at $55.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.39% to 1.0414, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8498.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.78% at 103.17.
