Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 2.60% or 1.990 points to trade at 78.490 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) added 1.55% or 1.70 points to end at 111.65 and Aperam (AS:APAM) was up 1.43% or 0.66 points to 46.81 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which lost 0.92% or 0.42 points to trade at 45.08 in late trade. Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) declined 0.90% or 0.95 points to end at 104.20 and UCB (BR:UCB) shed 0.20% or 0.14 points to 71.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 76 to 37 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.10% or 1.30 to $1254.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.89% or 0.90 to hit $48.63 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.71% or 0.87 to trade at $51.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.0850, while EUR/GBP rose 0.37% to 0.8681.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 99.15.
