Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Utilities and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.81% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 2.23% or 1.31 points to trade at 59.98 at the close. Ageas (BR:AGES) added 1.95% or 0.725 points to end at 37.930 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was up 1.46% or 0.76 points to 52.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which lost 0.37% or 0.17 points to trade at 46.19 in late trade. Elia (BR:ELI) declined 0.29% or 0.140 points to end at 47.540 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 0.17% or 0.04 points to 26.05.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 66 to 43 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.88% or 10.05 to $1132.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.60% or 0.32 to hit $53.38 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.91% or 0.50 to trade at $55.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0393, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8411.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 103.26.
