Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Utilities, Consumer Goods and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 3.46% or 0.91 points to trade at 27.04 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 1.10% or 0.66 points to end at 60.81 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was up 0.64% or 0.34 points to 53.57 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which lost 1.32% or 0.70 points to trade at 52.39 in late trade. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) declined 1.02% or 0.12 points to end at 12.13 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) shed 0.58% or 0.23 points to 38.66.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 57 to 54 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.26% or 2.95 to $1130.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.74% or 0.39 to hit $52.88 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.50 to trade at $54.96 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.0444, while EUR/GBP rose 0.70% to 0.8498.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 103.03.
