Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Industrials and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ageas (BR:AGES), which rose 1.68% or 0.575 points to trade at 34.875 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) added 1.09% or 0.98 points to end at 90.57 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was up 1.04% or 0.40 points to 38.76 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which lost 2.96% or 1.35 points to trade at 44.44 in late trade. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) declined 1.20% or 0.17 points to end at 14.41 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) shed 1.13% or 0.51 points to 44.49.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 77 to 66 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 1.25% or 15.60 to $1266.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.51% or 0.23 to hit $45.56 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.64% or 0.30 to trade at $47.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.1334, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.7769.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.52% at 93.89.
