Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Elia (BR:ELI), which rose 2.64% or 1.255 points to trade at 48.795 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 1.70% or 0.990 points to end at 59.390 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was up 0.59% or 0.31 points to 53.09 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which lost 0.76% or 0.20 points to trade at 26.82 in late trade. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) declined 0.66% or 0.13 points to end at 19.69 and Ageas (BR:AGES) shed 0.65% or 0.245 points to 37.685.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 64 to 50 and 7 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.02% or 0.25 to $1133.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.79% or 0.42 to hit $52.88 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.90% or 0.50 to trade at $54.85 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.0434, while EUR/GBP rose 0.64% to 0.8453.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 103.00.
