Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Financials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 2.64% or 0.67 points to trade at 26.09 at the close. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) added 1.84% or 0.94 points to end at 52.02 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 0.99% or 0.12 points to 12.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KBC (BR:KBC), which lost 2.25% or 1.370 points to trade at 59.530 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 0.88% or 0.120 points to end at 13.480 and Ageas (BR:AGES) shed 0.65% or 0.245 points to 37.205.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 58 to 49 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.40% or 4.60 to $1142.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.19% or 0.10 to hit $53.05 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.25% or 0.14 to trade at $55.07 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.0445, while EUR/GBP rose 0.57% to 0.8414.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 102.72.
