Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Utilities and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which rose 1.47% or 0.80 points to trade at 55.26 at the close. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) added 1.10% or 0.31 points to end at 28.46 and KBC (BR:KBC) was up 1.02% or 0.610 points to 60.500 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which lost 2.57% or 0.71 points to trade at 27.09 in late trade. Elia (BR:ELI) declined 1.57% or 0.765 points to end at 47.915 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) shed 1.09% or 0.25 points to 22.75.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 68 to 45 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.12% or 1.40 to $1183.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.92% or 0.48 to hit $51.48 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.09% or 0.60 to trade at $54.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.0560, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8684.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 102.01.
