Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which rose 1.01% or 0.46 points to trade at 45.49 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 0.76% or 0.54 points to end at 71.34 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 0.49% or 0.370 points to 76.500 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aperam (AS:APAM), which lost 3.11% or 1.48 points to trade at 46.16 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) declined 1.58% or 0.73 points to end at 45.87 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) shed 1.48% or 1.65 points to 109.95.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 68 to 41 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.44% or 5.45 to $1253.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.73% or 0.35 to hit $47.62 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.16% or 0.08 to trade at $50.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.71% to 1.0875, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8646.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.66% at 98.93.
